Jil Sander × PUMA, from Footwear to Apparel

The third Jil Sander × PUMA collaboration, reinterpreting sports heritage through the T7 tracksuit and Speedcat.

Jil Sander and PUMA have unveiled their third collaboration collection. Having resumed their collaboration with sneakers in 2025, the two brands are releasing apparel for the first time this season. We look at how the collaboration has expanded from footwear to tracksuits as PUMA's archive meets Jil Sander's sense of materials.

A Collaboration First Launched in 1998, Resumed

The collaboration between Jil Sander and PUMA began in 1998 by reinterpreting a PUMA football boot as a luxury leather sneaker. The partnership continued for a time before pausing after the mid-2000s, and resumed in October 2025.

Jil Sander creative director Simone Bellotti reinterpreted classic sneakers based on PUMA's archive. Following the King Avanti in 2025 and the K-Street in April 2026, this third collection broadens the collaboration's scope with the addition of apparel.

PUMA's T7, in Jil Sander's Materials

At the center of this collection is PUMA's T7 tracksuit. First introduced in 1968, the T7 is one of PUMA's signature archive pieces, best known for the 7cm-wide Formstrip running along the sleeves and sides.

Jil Sander applied a bi-stretch wool developed for the collaboration to the track jacket and pants. Adding a club navy color, brushed silver zippers, and co-branded labels, it combines sportswear silhouettes with restrained materials and details. A long-sleeve top and a baseball cap round out the offering, extending a footwear-led collaboration into a complete look.

Sneakers That Reread the Archive

The footwear lineup continues from the previous collaborations, reinterpreting PUMA's archive designs. The Speedcat features leather heel details and full leather lining, with different Formstrip details on the black and white colorways. Some overseas retailers also carried a suede version.

The collection focuses on preserving PUMA's sports heritage while creating difference through Jil Sander's materials and finishing. It's an approach that carries the collaboration's identity forward on the foundation of familiar silhouettes.

EDITORIAL SMALL TALK

The 1998 collaboration that turned a PUMA football boot into a luxury leather sneaker has now extended to the tracksuit. Rather than creating new silhouettes, this collection adds Jil Sander's sense of materials to the sports archive PUMA has built over the years.

Expanding a collaboration doesn't necessarily start with creating new products. Showing familiar products again through different materials and perspectives is also a way to broaden a brand's touchpoints.
